  • Current color photos of all sides of the structure(s) to be demolished, and a site plan or annotated survey that indicates all structures on the lot and clearly identifies which structures are proposed for removal are required. Google images are not accepted. Photos should show the entire side, corner to corner. If this isn’t possible, please provide as many photos as necessary to show a complete side.

       According to UDC 35-455(d)(2) the OHP staff has up to 30 days to review demolition requests of properties within the city limits that are not already zoned historic. Demolition requests for properties within Neighborhood Conservation Districts, as well as other properties depending on building age and location, will require the full 30 day review period.

       OHP staff reviews all buildings proposed for demolition for eligibility according to the criteria listed in UDC Sec 35-606. OHP staff will notify you within 30 days regarding the outcome of the review and whether a building that is proposed for demolition may be eligible for historic designation.

       According to UDC 35-453, properties that are determined eligible for historic designation have temporary protections in place including penalties for illegal demolition or exterior alterations. Staff will provide additional information regarding this ordinance should the property be determined eligible for historic designation.
