Municipal shelters throughout the country are consistently facing critical overcrowding due to the pet overpopulation crisis plaguing our communities. San Antonio Animal Care Services is no different. SAACS brings in more than 30,000 pets every year and has shelter capacity to hold dogs and cats for 3 days.
Pets that come into the shelter are at risk of capacity related euthanasia without a confirmed adopter, shelter partner transfer, or foster family. That means a pet is in immediate danger of humane euthanasia without a life-saving partnership.
