Street Maintenance Program
The goal of the Street Maintenance Program (SMP) is to provide a structured method for maintaining over 4,100 miles of streets. The SMP facilitates efficient and effective coordination and planning of required improvement projects using a combination of in-house and contract forces. Public Works manages the city's streets using a two-pronged strategy: a Pavement Preservation Program (Crack Seals, Fog Seals, Slurry and Micro-Surfacing) for the streets in good condition and a Structural Rehabilitation Program (Mill & Overlay, Full Depth Reclamation or Reconstruction) for streets that have begun to deteriorate.
